DR GK-CENSOR CLASH

The first controversy of the year 2015 has erupted. The Regional Censor officer Nagendra Swamy has expressed his displeasure and sought apology from Padmasri Dr Girish Kasaravalli for his remarks in a television discussion.

Dr Girish Kasaravalli reaction related to ‘Gaali Beeja’ cinema of director Ishwar Prasad has irked the regional censor officer.

VIJAY APPEARS TO CCB

The box office hero of Kannada cinema finding a good result to his family tussle in the last year last month in the family court is in news on a complaint from top ranking producer Jayanna of Jayanna Combines.

TRISHUL TITLE CONTRO AGAIN

When he announced ‘Dirty Pictures’ on the life sketch of Silk Smitha, he faced legal battle from Ektha Kapoor and had to bow to an alternative title. That is Trishool of ‘Silk….Sakkath Maga’ that crashed heavily despite of wrong publicity keeping the film in the minds of people. It was Pakistani actress Veena Mallik doing the title role in Kannada.

The long battle for recognition of Rajesh Brahmavar faction of cinema workers association gets nod from Apex Body – Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

Cinema Workers, technicians Federation headed by Rajesh Brahmavar with strong support from Munirathna Naidu and others gets the approval also means that there is clear division in the cinema workers and technicians federation.

 

LAHARI CASE ON RADIO CITY

 

The three and half decades prestigious Lahari Recording Company has taken the issue of nonpayment of agreed amount with Radio City to City Civil court.

 

Lahari Recording Company has claimed Rs.1.5 crore as total royalty amount for using its software from last three and half years. The case will be taken up in a few days time.

 

NAVEEN MURDERED

 

Kannada cinema actor Naveen of ‘Hai Krishna’ was murdered in Mysooru late on Sunday night. Naveen was killed for old revenge at Belavadi Maramma temple surroundings. His body was left in public place.

Mysooru Vijayanagara police arrived to the spot for investigation. In 2012 Naveen film ‘Hai Krishna’ was released. It was a huge flop film of his debut.

 

LAHARI CASE ON ‘RANA VIKRAMA’

Following the Indian Copyright Act the prestigious Lahari Recording Company has taken another step to teach the lawbreakers a lesson.

For copying two tunes from the stock of Lahari Recording company a case has been filed against the makers of power star Puneeth Rajakumar ‘Rana Vikrama’ that has music from V Harikrishna.

VINOD PRABHAKAT IS UPSET

The ‘Mari Tiger’ of Kannada cinema, son of Tiger Prabhakar is upset with caste feeling attributed to him. I am Christian and denied chance in this cinema field says Vinod Prabhakar in frustration. My father also faced the similar situation in his profession he claims.

NO LOBBY IN NA – DR GK

There is no question of lobbying or influencing anyone at the National Awards stated Dr Girish Kasaravalli the national acclaimed director with international reputation for his films.

Dr GK speaking at the party hosted by Prakash Raj at Gold Finch Hotel for 62 National film award winner from Kannada says the question lobbying does not arise. Had there been lobby, Hindi films would have bagged maximum of awards.

INDUSTRY BUNDH ON 18

 

It is Karnataka Bandh on April 18 in support of ‘Meke Dadu’ issue protesting the Tamil Nadu stand. The Kannada cinema industry is also supporting the issue by closing all activities on 18th of April.

 

Several pro Kannada organizations have called for Karnataka Bandh to show of strength against Tamil Nadu government for its attempt to stall the Mekedadu drinking water project across Cauvery.

Except Dr Shivarajakumar, Power star Puneeth Rajakumar, lovely star Prem, Navasara Nayaka Jaggesh, a few of the supporting actors – the top stars like Upendra, Kichcha Sudeep, Darshan, Yash, Ganesh, Vijay and many others abstained from the Karnataka Bandh called with regard to Mekedatu issue.

ARREST WARRANT ON POOJA GANDHI
 
The noted actress of ‘Mungaru Male’ fame Pooja Gandhi also producer from ‘Abhinetri’ has faced arrest warrant from JMF C Court in Raichur for violating the code of conduct of 2013 Vidhana Sabha elections.

 

POOJA GANDHI LET ON BAIL

The 2nd JMF Court in Raichur completed the formalities of arrest of actress Pooja Gandhi in case with the violation of code of conduct of last 2013 Assembly election. Later the actress was let on bail after charging Rs.500 as fine.

‘NATI KOLI’ CONTROVERSY

For the first time the top actress ravishing Ragini Dwivedi has been drawn in to a controversy. The film ‘Nati Koli’ in the direction of Srinivasaraju of ‘Dhandupalya and Shivam’ fame has reached the boiling point.

The ‘Nati Koli’ (country chicken) is spicy even before it is cut and spread on the table for consumption. The photo shoot of Ragini and Arun Gowda looked very spicy and it is at this stage the controversy ballooned up.

BHARATHI BUDGE

 

Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana has finally budged to the appeal of Dr Vishnuvardhana Fans Association and called off her demand for shifting of the memorial of her husband to Mysooru.

The apex body of Kannada cinema industry Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce is divided in to two divisions like the recent Cinema Workers Federation.

The parallel Karnataka Film Chamber with nominations from 13 districts out of 31 districts of Karnataka – North Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has started functioning. The literary giants and revolutionary leaders have joined this unit.

The President of North Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Shanker Sugathe says there is no opposition to Apex Body in Bengaluru. It is evolved for the free and quick activities. The film activities in this digital age are rising in Northern belt he says.

MAYOOR IN CHEQUE BOUNCE

Actor Mayoor Patel, son of Madan Patel is caught in cheque bounce case of Rs.5 lakhs. Selva Kumar has filed a complaint on cheque bounce case in Doddaballapur Police station.

PRODUCERS DISTRESS

The meeting of Kannada Film Producers on Sunday at Basanth Residence in Gandhinagar has decided to call of production of films in case a few of the demands are not immediately considered.

Starting from 1st June for 10 days a few of the producers are staging Dharna in front of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. 250 producers took part in the Sunday meeting and took a few decisions.

COMMITTEE FOR CRISIS

 

The KFCC and KFPA jointly set up three committees on Tuesday to look after the crisis faced by the Kannada film industry. On the basis of report of the three committees final decision will be taken.

 

Actors and sitting MLCs Jaggesh and Thara with Doddanna, Rockline Venkatesh, Sa Ra Govindu and Pramila Joshai are looking into the issue of artists.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has called for an emergency meeting with the exhibitor sector on Saturday to discuss the crucial issue of theatre rentals.

However the presence of all exhibitors at the KFCC meeting is doubtful as majority of theatre owners in Northern Karnataka come under the newly formed Northern Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

At the Saturday meeting headed by KFCC President Thomas D Souza the issue of percentage system is point for discussion.

SING BABU ATTACK

 

National acclaimed director and present Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman SV Rajendra Singh Babu stated that art films are not coming and that is the reason people have stopped watching films. Only money making films are produced today. Creative works are sidelined he says.

BHAT TITLE IN TROUBLE

Some time height of popularity goes unquestioned. In this case of title ‘Dana Kayonu’, it is not so. RS Productions, Yogaraj Bhat and Dhuniya Vijay reaching popularity thought that the title ‘Dana Kayonu’ goes unquestionable. They are wrong. Rangoli Films that has registered the title ‘Dana Kayonu’ taken strong objection for the title. Salimullah Khan has written complaint on lifting his title for Yogaraj Bhat direction film.

‘RANNA’ BUSINESS CRISIS

The Gokul Raj Films is screaming of unhappiness in the distribution of ‘Ranna’ that they obtained by paying Rs.12 crores from producer M Chandrasekhar of Nimishamba Creations.

The contract signed was for Rs.12 crores and 35 percent in excess of collection of the prescribed amount to producer. In the second week producer M Chandrasekhar has put up the advertisements saying he is the distributor of the film. This has really hurt the siblings of Gokulraj Films.

PRODUCERS HUNGER STRIKE

The ongoing dharna and protest by Kannada film producers takes a new turn from 11th of June. It is hunger strike from Thursday. A section of producers headed by Jayasimha Musuri are on hunger strike to meet the demands.

The hunger strike is because 10 days time limit has come to an end with no solution to producers demand. The three committees set up for the issues like artists payment, UFO and Qube, TV rights, exhibition system etc. No decision has reached so far from three committees.

KFI BANDH ON 18

With no solution yet for the demands of the Kannada Film Producers a strong protest is registered via ‘Bandh’ on 18th of June stopping all activities except exhibition of cinemas.

The producers sector decided on this bundh on Friday. 150 producers took part in the crucial meeting. KFPA President Munirathna Naidu and KFCC Present Thomas D Souza were also present at this meeting.

PRODUCERS BEGGARS- AMBI

The statement of Dr Ambarish, head of the Artists Association and Housing Minister of Karnataka state that ‘Producers are Beggars, Beggars have no choice’ resulted in lot of commotion. Already hurt producer sector further received a blow with such a statement. I have not told in wrong sense considering the situation of producers today declared Dr Ambarish later in the night. KFPA President Munirathna Naidu and K Manju reached Dr Ambarish residence for a solution. It is producers who come to artists pointed Dr Ambarish in the meeting.

 

PRODUCERS STRIKE GOVT INTERVENE

The 18 days Dharna, hunger strike from last three days by a section of producers and others coming and giving flying visit has ended with assurance from Information minister Roshan Baig. Information minister assured to intervene and give amicable solution on the list of demands put forward by producer sector.

 

YASH IN TROUBLE

With peak in popularity from series of hit films Rocking Star Yash is facing legal problem with his mother Smt Pushpa for not paying the monthly rent amount to Rs.20 lakhs.

 

Yash has not remitted Rs.40000 monthly rent to house owner Dr Maniprasad in Katriguppe locality. The rent has not come from 2010 says the complaint. A complaint has been registered in Girinagar police station.

 

POOJA IN CONTRO AGAIN

 

The ‘Mungaru Male’ heroine Pooja Gandhi is surrounded by one more controversy. Dr Suresh Sharma filed a complaint at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce against Pooja Gandhi for not returning Rs.1 crore loan.

VISHNU MEMORIAL SETBACK AGAIN

 

Already in muddle on declaration of land for Dr Vishnuvardhana Memorial has faced another death with High Court of Karnataka stopping the declared place at Survey No 22 of Mylasandra.

On a litigation filed by environmentalist Sharat Babu the two members Justice SK Mukherji and Justice BV Nagarathna of Karnataka High Court passed verdict to shift the location of Dr Vishnuvardhana Memorial to some other place. The direction was given to the state government by HC.

 

DR VISHNU MEMORIAL AT LAST

 

After six years of jeopardy on acquisition of two acres of land for Sahasa Simha Dr Vishnuvardhana Memorial, the place where he was cremated the same place next to TN Balakrishna ‘Abhiman Studio’ has been acquired with the right intervention of DC Shanker on the issue.

Another hiccup to Dr Vishnuvardhana Memorial! Dr Vishnu fought villains on the silver screen. After his death he is fighting too many villains that are blockade to his memorial at two acres land where he was cremated on December 31, 2009.

The High Court of Karnataka has issued stay order. Again TN Balakrishna daughter Geetha Bali statement that has come has disturbance.

A section of producers on Tuesday submitted a letter that stated V Ravichandran, crazy star should be removed from the Wage Revision Committee. The KFCC evolved a committee with V Ravichandran and Shivarajakumar as key members for revision of wage hike to cinema workers federation.

RANGITARANGA COMPLAINT

The first time producer HK Prakash of ‘Rangitaranga’ has filed a complaint at Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce on Thursday against exhibitors especially in Multiplexes showing priority to ‘Bahubali’ Telugu film.

The super star Upendra and Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh are at loggerheads. For the song in Uppi 2 ‘ Kala Ellara Kala Elithane….Upendra has cajoled the co artists and pulled their legs very badly. I did not expect this from Upendra. When we did together in ‘Tharle Nan Maklu’ I was much senior actor. Upendra using words on colleague shows that his mind is sick says Jaggesh in his twitter.

 

GOWDA ON DUBBING –KFCC SPLIT AGAIN

All is not well in the regime of Thomas D Souza Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce as President. A few months back a parallel Film Chamber of Commerce was evolved in Northern Karnataka and it is functioning fine.

 

Now a separate Film Chamber for Dubbing of other language films to Kannada showcases the complete jeopardy at the functioning of KFCC.

 

One of the Kannada film producers Krishne Gowda a sitting executive council member has registered a committee as President of ‘Dubbing Films’.

DUBBING SET BACK

 

The competition commission of India (CCI) has ruled according to the books and passed an order to allow dubbing in Karnataka from other languages to Kannada. Besides a fine for Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, Karnataka Doodarshan Mandali and Kannada Film Producers Association a strong notice has been served.

 

DUBBING PROTEST

 

After prayer at Dr Rajakumar Memorial in Kanteerava Studio on Sunday the Kannada Film Directors Association, Kannada Cinema Workers Federation, Karnataka Television members tying black badges went on a silent procession on ‘Dubbing’ issue that is bothering too much off late.

 

AUG 26 PROTEST ON DUBBING

With the recent verdict by Competition Commission of India on why not dubbing in Karnataka to Kannada language from other languages has taken serious turn. The Kannada activists, cinema personalities, Television industry is strongly opposing this decision. A protest in this direction is on 26th of August.

 

SETBACK ON STATE AWARD

 

Here is a rare case of setback for Karnataka state awards declared in five categories for 2009-2010. The case pending in High Court of Karnataka was heard and the order was passed to take back five awards – Best playback singer Tippu, playback singer female Lakshmi Nataraj, Editor P Srinivas, music director V Harikrishna – all for power star Puneeth Rajakumar film ‘Raaj The Showman’ and the fifth one is best story award ‘Olave Jeevana Lekkachara’ for Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar.

 

S Radha filed a petition in the High Court of Karnataka with regard to the 2009-2010 state film awards. The films considered for awards do not come to that particular year. Yet the state government considered for awards. This is what the petitioner challenged in the court.

KFI SUPPORT KALASA BANDURI BANDH

The 13th September protest against delay in implementation of ‘Kalasa Banduri’ project to meet the drinking water and irrigation purpose for Hubli and Dharwad districts of Karnataka, the KFCC extended support and reaching the protest at Hubballi.

The Kalasa Banduri Mahadayi water sharing controversy between Karnataka and Goa has received a major protest rally on Sunday in Hubbali. The Kannada film industry took part in the massive rally that reminded the Gokak Chaluvali of 1982.

 

SHARAN ON HUNGER STRIKE

It was a day long hunger strike for popular actor Sharan at Belavangala supporting the farmers and drinking water issue of the northern Karnataka region.

Look at the humble nature of ‘Dhuniya’ Vijay. For the dialogues in his recent film ‘RX Soori’ he expressed his shock and dismay. For dialogues written to Bullet Prakash and Sadhu Kokila in the film – in comedy track already scissors have been applied as it would amount to further revolt from family audience especially women fraternity. In addition to dialogues a few scenes are also cut for this KA Suresh Arts ‘RX Soori’. It is ten minutes trimming now for ‘RX Soori’.

JOLT FOR SING BABU

The sitting president of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy SV Rajendra Singh Babu receives a jolt via court notice that attaches his property for failure of repayment of loan he had taken in 2012.

 

The City Civil court has attached the property of SV Rajendra Singh Babu in Sanjaynagar that is worth over Rs.7 crores. Navashakthi Enterprises Nagaraj a financier is the one who brought the case to city civil court and sought court permission for attachment of the house of Singh Babu.

 

LAHARI LASH

The prestigious audio house in Karnataka with nearly three and half decade’s existence Lahari Recording Company has lashed at some of the music directors who disobey the rules and regulations. Lahari Velu was speaking to a prominent issue raised by BK Srinivas, producer of ‘Dove’ Kannada cinema on Monday.

KFCC BOYCOTT IFFI

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has decided to boycott the 45th International Film Festival of India starting from 20th of November.

 

It is the Goa that is stalling the ‘Kalasa Banduri’ water project from Mahadayi River to Karnataka. When the people of Northern Karnataka people are starving for water such objection from Goa government is uncalled for.

 

MUSIC - AUDIO HOUSE CLASH

The 30 plus music directors and lyricists on Sunday noon came out very strongly on the NOC demanded by Audio Companies from music directors and lyricists after taking rights of sale of audio CD of the film.

The lyricists and music directors are up against audio houses. The clash within is not a good sign in the Kannada cinema industry.

GOVINDU LASH AT PACKAGE SYSTEM

The probable KFCC President Sa Ra Govindu has taken to task the music directors of Kannada cinema for working on package system and troubling the producers with no objection certificates. The producer has invested nearly half a crore on cinema film songs and maximum of it goes to music director towards package for final copy of audio songs. When the marketing is made by producer the audio companies obviously ask for clearance for getting back their audio rights money given.

WARRANT ON VIJAY

The top actor Dhuniya Vijay faces another hiccup with the Muddebihal (Bijapur) JMFC court has issued no bail warrant in the election campaign case.

In the last Lok Sabha elections Dhuniya Vijay supported JDS candidate K Shivaramu and both crossed the election norms. In this case the case was filed at JMFC C court.

‘PAAPU’ TROUBLE IN OOTY

A day long shooting of ‘Paapu’ Kannada film was stalled by Ooty Police for no fault of Kannada film team headed by S Mahender.

On Wednesday morning the shooting with ‘helicam’ was objected by Ooty Police and detained the 40 plus team. The police consulted the DC on this issue with no knowledge of why the shooting is done with helicam to capture aerial shots.

The police later ascertained the details through Google search on helicam. It was too late in the evening. The team was set free. As a result one day shooting was held up for Kannada film ‘Paapu’.

UPPI TO FILE CASE

The super star of Kannada cinema Upendra is upset with unnecessary trouble created on his film ‘Uppi 2’. It is alleged that the story is lifted from writer Nagendra without obtaining permission. Nagendra story writer says he had told the script of his subject to Upendra at ‘Godfather’ shooting time.

CASE ON RAGINI

 

Actress of high prominence Ragini Dwivedi recently lashed at director Srinivasaraju of ‘Nati Koli’ on the sets of her new film song recording for ‘Huli Devara Kadu’. At this time Ragini has also clearly mentioned that for producer advance amount, she would work for another film of the same producer.

 

Even after such statement producer of ‘Nati Koli’ (that is shelved according to Ragini) Venkatesh has filed a cheating case against Ragini Dwivedi.

 

I AM REFORMED VENKAT

After a hullaballoo Huchcha Venkat has come to terms on own and admitted that he will be different man in the society in future.

I know the mistake committed and happened in my life. I would not utter the word ‘Ekkada’ in my life. After ‘Big Boss 3’ episode, disrespecting Dr BR Ambedkar, going to prison and coming back Huchaha Venkat appears very dull in his outlook. Yet the zeal in him has not gone. He wants to re release his film ‘Huchcha Venkat’ on 18th of December. Arya Mourya Gowda has come forward to release the film all over Karnataka.

VENKAT EVICTED

‘Huchcha Venkat’ lived up to the expectations in ‘Big Boss 3’ and finally got evicted for beating his one of the 13 colleagues Ravi Marur. The fit of anger in Huchcha Venkat was uncontrollable. Ravi Marur received injury and blood oozed out of his lips. Looking at this Kichcha Sudeep the anchor of ‘Big Boss 3’ shouted angrily at Huchcha Venkat. The immediate action was eviction of Huchcha Venkat from ‘Big Boss 3’. Half a dozen in black costume took away Huchcha Venkat. They did not allow him to pack his luggage.

HUCHCHA VENKAT ARRESTED

 

The controversial actor, producer, director and hard core Kannada fan Huchcha Venkat was arrested and kept in prison at Parappana Agrahara for his alleged remarks on founder of Indian constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.

 

 

The 17th City Civil Court judicial custody is up to December 4. The advocate of Huchcha Venkat appealed to the court that Huchcha Venkat is suffering from Schizophrenia and hence bail should be given. 

 

KFCC BOYCOT INTL FEST

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Sa Ra Govindu has called upon his industry colleagues to boycott the Goa International Film Festival scheduled November 20. The reason behind is the solution for the ‘Kalasa Banduri water project’ not taking a shape in the interest of people of Northern Karnataka. It is Goa that is a big blockade on the ‘Mahadayi Water Project’. There is no point in attending the international film festival says Sa Ra Govindu with other members of KFCC.

KFI PROTEST RALLY

On the day of start of the 46th International Film Festival at Goa, the Kannada Film Industry took a protest rally boycotting the event. Reason – Goa government not allowing the ‘Mahadayi’ water project implementation. With this hardship from Goa, the Karnataka state is facing problems especially for drinking water and farmers for cultivation in Northern part. The KFI supporting the interest of farmers in the ‘Kalasa Banduri’ water project kept away from the international Film Festival.

 

VIJAY APPEARS IN COURT

 

Dhuniya Vijay fearing arrest appeared before the Muddebihal court and sought bail in the case filed against him. It was in the last Lok Sabha elections, Dhuniya Vijay campaigned for former bureaucrat K Shivaramu who contested from JDS political party.
